Dixie Youth BaseballNAKINA – Bladen County scored four runs in their last at-bat to defeat Whiteville Optimist 9-5 Tuesday night in the Dixie Youth District 2 AAA (Minors) Supplemental Tournament.

With the win Bladen County advanced to a semi-final game Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Columbus County.

The top of the Bladen County batting order keyed the winning rally. Javon McGill, Shy’Asia Ratliff, Maison Brooks and Dalton Stanley all connected for hits and all four of them scored in the inning.

McGill and Ratliff led the Bladen County offense with three hits each. Teammate Jonathan Deville batted 2-3, and Keyon McKoy, Chase Williams, Stanley, and Brooks added one hit each for the winners.

Stanley started on the mound for Bladen County and was relieved by Ratliff who blanked Whiteville over the last two innings to pick up the win. “Shy’Asia came in and shut them out so we could get the lead,” said Bladen County Coach Ramon Johnson.
