NAKINA – Conner Padrick pitched a 4-hit shutout and struck out five to lead Elizabethtown to a 9-0 victory over Bladen County Sunday in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 AAA (Minors) Supplemental Tournament.

Elizabethtown advances to the winners’ bracket final Tuesday at 6:30. Bladen County will play in an elimination game at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Gabe Cashwell belted a single, and Aa’Quan Cotton walked in the Elizabethtown half of the first. Na’Toren Corbett hammered a double that scored both runners for a 2-0 lead.

Conner Padrick ripped a single to left in the second inning, and Cooper Padrick walked. Both runners came around to score as the lead grew to 4-0.

Elizabethtown tacked on 3 more runs in the third inning. Cashwell raked a single to leftfield, and Cotton walked. Kalec Cromartie slapped a single to rightfield that scored Cashwell and Cotton. Cromartie dashed home with the third run of the inning that upped the count to 7-0.

Isaiah Lee and Cooper Padrick drew 2-out walks in the fourth inning and scooted home with the final 2 Elizabethtown runs.

Cashwell batted 2-3 with 2 runs scored to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Corbett slammed the 2-run double, and Cromartie delivered a 2-run single.

Trenton Hughes and Conner Padrick added one hit each for the winners. Cotton scored 2 runs, and Hughes, Cromartie and Conner Padrick scored one run each.

Maison Brooks, Javon McGill, Chase Williams and Jonathan Deville connected for one hit each for Bladen County. Brooks and Williams belted 2-out singles in the first inning to give Bladen County their best scoring chance, but they were left on base.
