East Bladen travels to West Bladen tonight (Tuesday) to kick-off the Dixie Youth Pre-Majors Baseball season. Game time is 7 p.m.

The two Bladen teams will compete in a ten-team summer league that will feature eight other teams. Coach Kim Cain’s Knights plan to play a 21-game schedule, while Coach Russell Priest’s Eagles have a 19-game slate scheduled.

Other teams in the league with East Bladen and West Bladen are: Whiteville, East Columbus, West Brunswick, South Brunswick, North Brunswick, South Columbus, Loris, SC and North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Both Bladen teams will feature their regular players who are not graduating this year. For East Bladen those players include Alex Coates, Kyle Tatum, Nikita Owens, Ty McMillian, Sincere Smith, Xavier Wooten and Ty Watkins.

Expected to see action this summer for West Bladen are: Jeremy Hunt, Trent West, Seth Britt, Troy Edge, Chandler Lennon, Weston Pidgeon, Jarrett Williams, Scott Bowen, Donald McCullum, Ray Jones and Brandon Carson.

Neither Coach Cain or Coach Priest can coach their summer teams until school is out for the summer, so until then interim coaches Josh Schultz (West Bladen) and Ritchie Priest (East Bladen) will fill in.

West Bladen’s Knights are the two-time defending Dixie Pre-Majors State Champions. In 2013 the Knights played in the Pre-Majors World Series in Alabama and last year West Bladen posted a 1-2 record in the World Series in Florida.
