The East Bladen Eagles all dressed down today, Friday, for Cancer Day to help raise awareness of the disease that affects so many in our county. But, some of the students and faculty did more than dress down for the day. East Bladen Students currently dealing with cancer in their immediate family received a little something extra.

In the photo of everyone together from left to right, the four ladies with big hearts that helped the ball get rolling are pictured. Majesti Corbett, Tamara Daniels, Jasmine Jones, Kayla Kelly were the individuals responsible for identifying all the school’s students who either have a parent or sibling currently going thru some type of treatment for cancer and they helped raise funds to give to each family.

Who are the families you might ask?  Well Jasmine and her amazing team of Eagles identified all of the students who either have a parent or sibling that is currently going thru some treatment for cancer.

While we don’t want to publish the students or families names, a total of four families in all were identified in the school as having to battle cancer right now. The students with the family members dealing with this horrible sickness were called to the office to receive their gifts.

In total the faculty and students raised $465.00 just this week for these families.  What an amazing testimony of grace and love!

Mrs. Cheryl West, East Bladen Teacher said, “I do however have to give all of the credit for organizing this to Jasmine Jones and her team:  Majesti Corbett, Tamara Daniels, and Kayla Kelly! They organized the whole thing themselves with me as their facilitator.”

She continued, “The fact that they did this is a step in growing leaders here at East Bladen.”
