The pairings have been set for the East Bladen Holiday Classic girls basketball games that will be played on December 21-22 at East Bladen High.

On Monday Dec. 21 West Bladen will open the Classic at 5 p.m. against North Brunswick. In Monday’s second game at 6:30, the host East Bladen Lady Eagles will battle Whiteville.

Former East Bladen stars Jazmine Kemp and JaToya Kemp will have their numbers retired in a ceremony before the East Bladen/Whiteville game.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22, West Bladen will play Whiteville in the 5 p.m. game, and East Bladen will take on North Brunswick in the 6:30 game.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles are off to a 4-0 start this season with two victories over Class 4A teams. Last year East Bladen posted a 26-1 record with only a loss to eventual Class 2A state runner-up Kinston marring their slate.

Coach Serena Smith’s Whiteville squad finished 17-8 last year and in second-place in the Three Rivers Conference. The Lady Wolfpack reached the second-round of the Class 1A play-offs before they were eliminated by Three Rivers champ East Columbus.

Coach Rickie Rhoda has replaced Pam Stephens as the coach of the West Bladen Lady Knights. Last season West Bladen finished third in the Four County Conference with a 12-13 overall record.

Coach Travis Fortune’s North Brunswick team recorded a 10-13 record last season in the tough East Central 2A Conference.
