East Bladen senior Ethan Hines has been named to the Wilmington Star-News All-Area First Team Offense and to the Fayetteville Observer’s All-Cape Fear Region Second Team Offense.
Hines rushed for 1,913 yards and 24 touchdowns as the Eagles reached the third round of the NCHSAA Class 2A Play-offs. The Eagle senior scored 7 receiving touchdowns and returned 2 kick-offs and one fumble for touchdowns. Hines racked up 2,521 all-purpose yards.
East Bladen defensive lineman Caleb Strait and defensive back Kyle Tatum were named to the All-Cape Fear Region Second Team Defense.
Strait was credited with 79 tackles this season – 31 solo. The junior lineman sacked opposing quarterbacks 5.5 times for 25 yards in losses.
Strait’s block of Ayden-Grifton’s game-winning field goal attempt in the closing seconds forced an overtime period that East Bladen won 28-21 in the second round of the play-offs.
Tatum, a senior, made 67 total tackles – 29 solo. He also recovered 3 fumbles and intercepted 2 passes.
