Spread the love

festivla-of-treesSoutheastern Hospice’s annual Festival of Trees will celebrate “Sharing the Love” during this year’s 31st Festival which begins Sunday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m.

The annual holiday benefit for Southeastern Hospice, Southeastern Health’s program of care for terminally ill patients and their families, will kick off this year’s celebration with a preview party for sponsors and decorators on Saturday, Dec. 3, with featured speaker SeHealth President/CEO Joann Anderson. The preview event will include recognition of donors and decorators for their support and dedication to the Festival.

The Festival, which features exquisitely-decorated theme trees, is being held in the Osterneck Auditorium at 102 N. Chestnut Street, directly across from the Robeson County Public Library, Sunday, Dec. 4 from 1 until 5 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 5 and 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Fresh-baked goodies, specialty food, crafts and gift items, such as holiday ornaments, wreaths and centerpieces, are being sold in the Festival’s Santa Shop gift shop, which operates only during the days of the Festival.

A special Memorial Tree, which features the names of Southeastern Hospice patients who have passed away over the past year, will also be featured at the event.

Southeastern Health Marketing Coordinator Ann McLean has coordinated the Festival since it first began.

“Even though our community has endured so much over the past several weeks related to Hurricane Matthew, we felt it was important to continue our festival as a way to usher in the holiday season,” said McLean.  “Southeastern Hospice is an important part of our community and this festival will be a way for our community to continue to heal.”

Tickets for the Festival can be purchased at the door.  Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and children over the age of 12. Children under 12 and members of Southeastern Health’s PrivilegesPlus program who present their membership card will be admitted at no charge.

All proceeds benefit Southeastern Hospice, Southeastern Hospice House and Camp Care, a summer camp for children ages 8-16 who have lost a loved one, and donations are tax deductible.  For more information about the Festival, call 910-671-5007.
