Columbus Charter School is a public K-8 charter school. Public charter schools accept fewer taxpayer dollars in exchange for freedom to offer alternative curriculum and calendar options to traditional public schools, while still remaining subject to the same End-of-Grade testing standards.
Any NC student can enroll in a charter school at no cost. Columbus Charter School is one of four identically-operated public charter schools managed by The Roger Bacon Academy, Inc. Sibling schools are Charter Day School in Leland, Douglass Academy in Wilmington, and South Brunswick Charter School in Southport.
