Jazmine KempElizabethtown native Jazmine Kemp poured in 21 points Saturday, but her UNC-Pembroke Lady Braves fell victim to a 12-2 Armstrong State second-half spurt that produced a 72-60 Peach Belt Conference victory in Savannah, GA.

Kemp connected on 10 of 16 shots from the field, grabbed 8 rebounds, blocked 2 shots, dished out 2 assists and came up with 2 steals in her 37 minutes on the floor.

A pair of lay-ups by Kemp staked the Lady Braves to a quick 4-2 lead. The 5-10 senior added a free throw and another lay-up as UNC-Pembroke stayed within 32-31 at halftime.

Kemp fired in 3 straight jump shots to edge the Lady Braves in front 41-40 with 14:50 left to play. The East Bladen grad pumped in 3 more jump shots to keep the score tied 52-52 with 8:32 remaining.

The 12-2 Armstrong State run put the Lady Pirates ahead 66-57 with 2:09 left. Kemp connected on one more jump shot at the 1:09 mark.

Former South Columbus star Kierra Haney posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds for UNC-Pembroke.

The Lady Braves will celebrate Senior Night for Kemp, Haney and 2 other seniors Wednesday at 5:30 when they host Francis Marion.
