ELIZABETHTOWN – Midway defeated East Bladen 9-4 Friday in Four County Conference jayvee baseball action.

Midway built a 4-0 lead before the Eagles answered with 2 runs in the third. Freshman Jake Evans cracked a 2-out single, and freshman Gabe Barber slammed a double to drive him in. Freshman Jordan Robinson hammered a double that scored Barber.

East Bladen trimmed the lead to 4-3 with a run in the fourth. Sophmore Eric Chancy belted a single but was retired at second on Josh McKoy’s fielder’s choice. Holden Clark knocked in McKoy with a single.

The Raiders added a run in the fifth and 4 more in the sixth. Sophmores Spencer Scott and Pierce Melvin smacked singles to start the home half of the sixth. Davis Alsup belted a single to drive in Scott.

Evans batted 2-2 with a run scored to lead the Eagle hitters. Barber and Robinson clubbed run-scoring doubles. Scott, Melvin, Chancy, Alsup, McKoy and Clark connected for one hit each. Barber, Scott and McKoy scored runs, and Clark and Alsup drove in a run each.

The Eagle jayvees, now 2-2, will host Clinton Tuesday.
