DUBLIN – West Bladen’s Knights rolled to their fourth straight jayvee baseball victory Wednesday 14-4 over South Robeson.
Sophmore Derrick Long pitched the first 4 innings and struck out 8 batters to pick up the win. Freshman Tyre Boykin relieved in the fifth and closed the game out.
Long batted 2-2 to lead the Knight hitters. Sophmores Jeremy Pait and David Valenta both finished 2-3 at the plate for the winners. Sophmore Dalton Pait cracked 2 hits in 4 at-bats, and freshman Nolan Bryant connected for one hit.
“We were short-handed due to injuries and illness, but the guys came to play tonight,” said West Bladen Coach Todd Pait. “Derrick and Tyre both did a great job pitching tonight.”
The Knights open Four County Conference play Friday when they host Union at 4 p.m.
