The Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce heard from Laura Lunsford of the Swain Center at UNC-Wilmington regarding Executive and Professional Leadership training.

Lunsford told those gathered the mission of the Swain Center is to serve businesses in North Carolina. They do that through assisting businesses with professional and executive training. The Center also offers economic services to businesses, as well.

Lunsford said businesses spend about $160 million nationwide for professional and executive training. She said businesses spend $320 million worldwide for professional development for their executives. She said executive training is important because it gives leaders skills in how to motivate people and get things done.

Lunsford said the Swain Center staff is available to assist businesses with their needs.

The spotlight business for the month is Campbell Oil. Brain Campbell addressed the luncheon meeting and described some fo the products and services Campbell Oil offers. He said the business was begun in 1948 and will turn 70 years old in 2018.

Campbell described the work environment at Campbell Oil as a collaborative work environment. He described the staff as coworkers.

Campbell said there are four basic areas in which Campbell Oil is active. They are fuel, lubricants, convenience stores, and food stores.
