CLARKTON – Clarkton School of Discovery raced to leads of 11-2 and 21-2 at halftime en route to a 46-13 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory Thursday over East Arcadia.

J. T. Junious and Garrett Melvin threw in 2 baskets each, and Jacob Priest nailed a 3-point shot as the Blue Devils took the 11-2 first quarter lead. Kari Price sank 2 free throws for the Panther points.

Donevin Keith pumped in a basket and 2 free throws for Clarkton in the second period. Priest, Cornelius McArthur and Jake Garrison tacked on a basket each.

McArthur tossed in 2 baskets and a free throw in the third period as the Blue Devils kept the margin at 30-9. Priest added a basket, and Malachi Oxendine and Jackson Bostic hit free throws.

Cody Long and Roderick Grainger bombed in 3-point shots in the third quarter for East Arcadia, and Price made a free throw.

Garrison drove for a trio of baskets in the final period, and Melvin popped in 2 more baskets. Oxendine and Joseph Masaid connected for a basket each, and Junious canned 2 free throws. Masaid also made a free throw.

Anthony Gregg drained a 3-point shot and another basket for East Arcadia in the final period. Teammate Corey Robbins netted a free throw.

Melvin and Garrison led the Blue Devils with 8 points each. Priest and McArthur followed with 7 points each, and Junious totaled 6 points.

Gregg topped the Panther scoring with 5 points, and Long, Price, and Grainger followed with 3 points each.

The Blue Devils improved to 2-0 with the victory.
