Shy’Ron Adams and Tray Ballard combined for 15 points during a 17-2 first quarter run that propelled Bladenboro to a 50-23 victory Tuesday night over Clarkton School of Discovery in the semi-finals of the Bladen Five Middle School Conference Tournament at Bladenboro.

Adams rang up 3 first-period baskets and bombed in a 3-point shot to spark the  Bulldog spurt. Ballard worked the paint for 3 more baskets, and guard Da’Shawn Hines added a basket.

Tashuan Berkeley dropped in the only basket for Clarkton in the quarter.

Adams threw in a trio of baskets in the second quarter, and guards Logan West and Hines drained 3- point shots in the period. Hines netted another basket as the Bulldog lead grew to 31-8 at halftime.

Berkeley flipped in a pair of baskets for Clarkton in the second quarter, and Lawson Hester scored another bucket.

Ballard and Adams pumped in 7 points each for Bladenboro in the third period as the Bulldogs stretched their lead to 45-15. Ballard drilled a 3-point shot and tossed in a pair of 2-point shots. Adams racked up a trio of baskets and hit a free throw in the period.

Center Javant McDowell battled inside for one basket, and Berkeley connected for a basket and a free throw. Teammate Xavier McKoy hit 2 free throws.

Adams and Nolan Bryant tallied baskets for Bladenboro in the fourth quarter, and Hines hit a free throw.

Berkeley netted 4 of his team-high 13 points for CSD in the final period. McDowell sank 2 free throws and finished with 4 points for the Blue Devils, and Juwan Baldwin tacked on a basket.

Adams poured in 24 points to lead all scorers for Bladenboro, Ballard followed with 13 points, and Hines totaled 8 points.

Bladenboro advances to the tournament title game at 6:30 Thursday against top-seeded Elizabethtown with a 6-3 record. Clarkton concludes their season with a 6-3 record.
