CLARKTON – Clarkton School of Discovery exploded for 16 first-inning runs en route to an 18-2 Bladen Five Middle School Conference softball victory over Bladenboro Tuesday.

Jordan Kinlaw pitched a 3-inning one-hitter and struck out five to pick up the victory for the Lady Blue Devils. Kinlaw hit 3 batters and walked one.

Johanna Parker was hit by a pitch to start the Clarkton first. Khadijah Jones blasted a 2-run homer to left-centerfield. Alyssa Futrell hammered a triple to centerfield and after QuaDasia Monroe walked, Lauren Bowen walloped a 2-run triple to left-centerfield.

Abbie Cross and Alayna Weeks drew walks and raced home when Izzy Smith smashed a double to centerfield. Kinlaw was hit by a pitch, and Jones knocked her in with a single, then scored when Futrell reached base on an error. Monroe drove in Futrell with a single.

Bowen and Weeks drew walks, and Cross reached base on an error. Smith swatted a run-scoring single, and Kinlaw belted a 2-run single to cap the 16-run inning.

Adrienne Howell slammed a double to begin the Clarkton second, and Tara Rogers reached base on a fielder’s choice. Bowen smacked a single to drive in Rogers, then stole second base, third base and home plate.

Bladenboro scored 2 runs in the top of the third. Kasee Singletary walked and stole second and third bases then home. Pitcher Taylor West was hit by a pitch, and stole second base, before Alexis laced a single to centerfield. West stole home for the final Bladenboro run.

Jones batted 2-2 with a home run, 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored, and Bowen finished 2-2 with a triple, 3 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Smith was 2-2 with a double, 3 rbi’s and a run scored.

Howell slugged a double, and Parker and Kinlaw added one single each. Kinlaw drove in 2 runs.

The Lady Blue Devils improved to 2-1 with the victory.
