West Bladen grad Rahu Purdie has just completed a solid sophmore basketball season for the Lander Bearcats, finishing second on the team in a number of offensive categories.

Purdie was second on the team in scoring (13 points per game), assists (3.4 per game) and steals (27). The 5-9 guard started all 30 games for the Bearcats playing almost 31 minutes per game.

The White Oak native connected on 44% of his field goal attempts and 84% of his free throws. Purdie shot 43% from behind the 3-point arc and pulled down 3.2 rebounds per game.

Highlights of Purdie’s season included: a career-high 27 points in a 97-92 overtime loss to Fayetteville State, 22 points in a 67-64 win over Erskine, 21 points in an 83-81 overtime loss to UNC-Pembroke, and 20 points in an 83-78 double-overtime victory over Georgia Southwestern.

Purdie led Lander in scoring in seven games. The Bearcats finished 12-18 overall and 8-11 in the Peach Belt Conference.
