Rahu Purdie Lander WinWest Bladen grad Rahu Purdie bombed in a trio of 3-pointers and scored 11 points Saturday as his Lander Bearcats defeated North Georgia 97-84 in Peach Belt Conference basketball action.

Purdie connected on all three of his 3-point attempts, was 1-3 from 2-point range and also collected 2 rebounds, 2 assists and one steal.

The White Oak native drained his first 3-pointer with 17:31 left in the first half to put Lander ahead 7-4. Purdie nailed another 3-pointer with 2:06 left in the half and stretched the Bearcat lead to 44-33.

North Georgia closed the gap to 46-40 at halftime. Purdie popped in a two-point jumper with 8:16 left in the game that pushed the Lander lead to 73-58. Three minutes later Purdie buried another 3-ball that kept the margin at 83-67.

Wednesday night Purdie scored 6 points, dished out 4 assists and recorded one steal as Lander defeated Francis Marion 82-65.

The Bearcats improved to 10-2 in the Peach Belt and 16-5 overall. Lander leads the Peach Belt Conference’s East Division.

Lander will travel to Francis Marion in Florence, SC this coming Wednesday night for a 7:30 rematch with the Patriots.
