National Weather ServiceAccording to National Weather Service Meteorologist Steven Pfaff, the threat of severe weather is diminishing slightly. He said a line of severe thunderstorms in the Pee Dee area has slowed its progression eastward; however, the threat for severe weather still remains.

A tornado watch remains in effect until 7 p.m.

Strong wind gusts will continue to be a possibility through the evening hours and a wind advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m.

A gust to 53 mph was recorded at the Wilmington International Airport earlier this afternoon. Many other gusts in the 40-50 mph range were observed today,” said Pfaff.
