The Bladen County Sheriff’s Department and Bladen Community College are working together to provide multiple trainings for all law enforcement divisions according to Sgt. Gary Turlington and Sgt. Jeff Singletary. The Bladen County Law Enforcement Association is working with BCC to assist with the needs and basic expenses.

Local law enforcement agencies, North Carolina Highway Patrol officers, along with the SBI and other county law enforcement officers have all participated in the training sessions provided by the partnership. Bladen Community College is providing the certified training using the Sheriff Department’s knowledgeable staff members as instructors. The Sheriff’s Department is also hosting training for Bladen County students.

“The sheriff wants us to work in partnerships with all these other agencies,” Turlington stated.

Training sessions have taken place at the Bladen County Training Facility and the Bladen County Law Enforcement Association building at White Lake, as well as the airport in Elizabethtown, according to Turlington.

This week the partnership has provided Communications Procedure classes for law enforcement. Turlington explained the communications training is to teach all agencies to be on the same page.

The Bladen County Law Enforcement Association has also assisted in training over 247 Highway Patrol Officers in fire arms training from across the southeast.

“These officers also eat at least twice a day while they are here,” Turlington said.

There will also be a Concealed Carry Class offered to the public this month. The class is full, but if there are enough people interested the Sheriff’s Department will host another Concealed Carry Class.
