DUBLIN – West Bladen’s Lady Knights rolled to an 18-0 Four County Conference softball victory over Clinton Friday night to post their ninth consecutive win. The game was stopped after 2.5 innings by the mercy rule.

West Bladen’s victory coupled with Midway’s 6-1 loss to Heide Trask clinched the Four County Conference’s No. 1 Class 2A play-off seed for the Lady Knights.

Junior Logan Autry smacked a hit to right-centerfield and hustled it into a double. After freshman Carley Dawson drew a walk, pitcher Alanna Ludlum sliced a single down the rightfield line to load the bases.

Junior Laikyn Pait drilled a triple to the left-centerfield gap that cleared the bases. Pait dashed home on a wild pitch to put the Lady Knights up 4-0.

The Lady Knights sent 20 batters to the plate in the second inning and scored 14 runs. Junior Kathryn Schultz roped a single to left-centerfield, and freshman Conner Brisson poked a single to right. A throwing error on the play plated Schultz.

Brisson stole third and raced home when the catcher’s throw sailed into leftfield. Junior Kassidy Anderson dropped in a single over shortstop. Autry and Dawson drew walks, and Anderson darted home on a wild pitch.

Ludlum lined a single to centerfield that drove in Autry and Dawson. Laikyn Pait ripped a line drive that the leftfielder misplayed into 2 bases. Junior Sophia Singletary bounced a seeing-eye single through the left side that plated Alise Pait, the courtesy runner for Ludlum.

Dove walked, and Schultz’ grounder was boxed by the Clinton shortstop and scored Laikyn Pait. Singletary dashed home on a wild pitch, and Brisson’s sacrifice fly scored Dove.

Anderson walked, and Autry’s ground ball scored Schultz. Sophmore Abby Dawson walked, and Ludlum walked to force home Anderson. Laikyn Pait’s sacrifice fly plated Autry, and Singletary’s infield hit scored Abby Dawson.

Dove belted a single to centerfield to load the bases, and Schultz’ grounder scored Alise Pait, the courtesy runner for Ludlum.

Ludlum batted 2-2 with 3 runs batted in and a run scored. Singletary finished 2-3 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and a run scored. Laikyn Pait hammered the triple, drove in 4 runs and scored twice.

Autry doubled and scored 3 runs. Brisson, Schultz, Dove and Anderson contributed one hit each. Anderson, Carley Dawson, Schultz and Alise Pait scored 2 runs each. Dove, Brisson and Abby Dawson scored one run each. Schultz and Brisson drove in one run each.

Ludlum pitched a 2-hitter, struck out 2, hit a batter and walked one to pick up her second pitching victory of the season.

“Another solid team effort tonight,” said West Bladen Coach Joey Autry. “Everybody up and down the line-up is contributing. We tried to get the girls some more playing time, but the run-rule got us.”

Sydney Simmons and Cassie Bradshaw had one hit each for Clinton. Tori Johnson started in the circle for the Lady Dark Horses.

The Lady Knights improved to 10-2 in the conference and 13-7 overall. West Bladen will travel to Midway Tuesday night.
