DUBLIN – West Bladen’s Lady Knights rolled to an 18-0 softball victory over Union Friday night in the Four County Conference opener for both teams.

The Lady Knights took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Seniors Kassidy Anderson and Logan Autry and sophmore Carley Dawson drew walks, and senior Laikyn Pait’s grounder plated Anderson. Senior Sophia Singletary knocked in Autry with a single, and sophmore Conner Brisson’s sacrifice fly scored Dawson.

Anderson smashed a one-out double in the second inning and scored when Carley Dawson slammed a double. Carley Dawson scored on an error for a 5-0 Lady Knight lead.

West Bladen broke the game open with ten runs in the third. Brisson and senior Kathryn Schultz belted singles, and senior Jenna Dove knocked both of them in with a single. Junior Abby Dawson cracked a single that plated Dove, and Autry drove in Abby Dawson with a single.

Carley Dawson hammered a triple that scored Autry. Pait was hit by a pitch, and Singletary’s fielder’s choice brought home Carley Dawson. Brisson and Schultz drew walks that forced home runs.

The Lady Knights added 3 runs in the fourth. Freshman Kyla Reed drew a walk, and junior Anna Moser smacked a single. Junior Madison Collins and Brisson both reached base on fielder’s choices.

Schultz walloped a double that scored Collins and Brisson. Schultz scored as Dove reached base on an error.

Singletary pitched the first 3 innings to pick up the win, striking out 4 and allowing 2 hits. Collins relieved and pitched the final 2 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk and striking out one.

Carley Dawson doubled and tripled, knocked in 2 runs and scored three. Schultz batted 2-3 with a double, 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Anderson, Autry, Moser, Singletary, Brisson, Dove and Abby Dawson added one hit each.

Brisson scored 3 runs, Autry and Anderson scored twice each, and Pait, Singletary, Dove, Collins and Abby Dawson scored one run each. Singletary and Brisson drove in 2 runs each.

Autry, Pait, Dove and Abby Dawson drove in one run each.

Coach Joey Autry’s Lady Knights improved to 3-1 overall and will travel to West Columbus Saturday for a 2 p.m. game.
