CERRO GORDO-Sophia Singletary and Madison Collins combined to pitch a 3-hitter Saturday as West Bladen defeated West Columbus 7-1 in non-conference softball action.

Singletary worked the first 5 innings to raise her record to 4-1. The senior righthander struck out 4 and allowed an unearned run on 3 hits. Collins pitched 2 hitless innings and struck out two. The West Bladen pitchers did not issue a walk in the game.

Senior Laikyn Pait led off the Lady Knight second inning with a single and eventually scored on a passed ball. Sophmore Conner Brisson smacked a single, dashed to third base on a passed ball and scored on senior Logan Autry’s fielder’s choice for a 2-0 lead.

Senior Kassidy Anderson and sophmore Carley Dawson cracked one-out singles in the West Bladen third inning. Anderson darted home on a passed ball, and senior Alanna Ludlum reached base on an error.

After Pait walked, Singletary knocked in Dawson and Ludlum with a single. Brisson delivered a single, and Autry’s fielder’s choice brought home Pait. Freshman Kyla Reed, the courtesy runner for Singletary, raced home on a passed ball to push the lead to 7-0.

Two errors and Emily Britt’s single produced a Lady Viking run in the fourth inning.

Brisson batted a perfect 4-4 and scored a run to lead the West Bladen hitters. Anderson finished 2-4 with a run scored. Carley Dawson, Pait, Singletary, Autry and senior Kathryn Schultz connected for one hit each.

Pait scored 2 runs, and Dawson, Ludlum and Reed scored one run each. Singletary and Autry had 2 runs batted in each.

Coach Joey Autry’s Lady Knights improved to 4-1 with the victory and will return to Four County Conference play Tuesday night when they host Wallace-Rose Hill.
