moptopshopThe 3rd annual Garland Community Day will take place in downtown Garland on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.  The theme for this year’s event is “Celebrating Our Youth: Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

The parade grand marshal will be MopTopShop of Raleigh.

The parade emcees will be Sampson Community College SGA officers Meagan Sessoms and Shadavia Pridgen. Some of the parade highlights will include the Sundan Roadsters and Sudan Clowns, Ronald McDonald, Smokey the Bear, SECU Fat Cat, Classic Cars, Surge Radio, the Union High School JROTC, horses, queens and more.

The Opening Ceremony for the event will be led by Gracy Peterson of Harrells Christian Academy.

There will be fun for everyone of all ages. Plans include a parade, crafts, food and live entertainment throughout the day. Also, there will be amusement rides, games, face painting and balloon art.  There will be Gospel singing, children’s choirs, and dance troops.

A street dance will take place from 6 until 10 p.m.

Surge Radio 105 FM will broadcast live throughout the day.
