Thoughts While ShavingToday is April 30…my how time passes by…..

Yesterday’s (Wednesday) meeting between the Board of Education and Bladen County Board of Education was interesting to say the least….Two boards who have a responsibility that they take seriously…One depending the other to provide a major source of funding…Commissioners looking at their situation…reval, a new jail and generally a lack of funds knowing they want do all they can to provide funding for the school system…

The new jail was not their first priority, but one they have failed to deal with for years and were told they must do…

Thought it was a good idea to meet in a neutral location….the Health Department…to talk and listen….

Time is short…School ends in about 4, maybe 5 weeks and a new school year begins in about 15 weeks….

Dr. Robert Taylor proposed a $60 million plan for the school system about 2 years ago…

What’s next? No idea…to be continued..Bet there will be some behind the scenes give and take…Probably neither group will be happy with the final outcome…

I remember those tense times from the late 70’s and 80’s.  As a commissioner, our board was dealing with Mr. Billy Haire, Superintendent at the time…Commissioners st that time included…(see how many I can remember)…Doug Evans was our County Administrator…Commissioners...Edgar Stevens, Vance Clark, William Butler, Bobby Roberts, Byron McNeill, Wilbur Register, Braxton Edge…over my 8 years on the board. Only 5 members on the board at the time…….Bet I missed someone…

Had someone ask about my “bucket list”?  Took a while for me to determine what a “bucket list” is/was.
Sometimes I feel like a T-model on the Interstate….Who created that term?

Off to Raleigh….

I always put in a full eight hours at work….spread out over the course of a week.

You never realize what you have until it’s gone…Example…toilet paper.

Two horrible facts: 1. Today is not Friday.  2. Today is not Friday
