Thoughts While ShavingRemember…You do not pass a stopped school bus…and if you do, hopefully someone will report it and you receive a citation…maybe a time ‘on foot’ will jog the ‘common sense’ portion of the brain. Hopefully this is the day the stock market’s downward streak comes to an end…Some link the devaluation of the economy in China as one cause…Just happened to think that Bladen’s largest employer is owned by Chinese. That would be Smithfield Foods. Don’t think that has had any effect on anything…Does offer employment for several thousand area residents…and we are grateful.

A barrel of US oil is down to $38, the lowest since February 2009. How low can it go and when will it show up at local gas outlets??? I realize there are many other costs associated with the cost of a gallon of fuel…

I settled many of the world’s problems from between 2 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. wide awake…no reason…Just one of those nights…

Bet there are some folks ‘squirming’ in their seats with the announcement that the Ashley Madison website has been hacked. Frankly, I had never heard of it till recently when the hackers began releasing email addresses on the controversial website. It promotes ‘Married Dating and Discreet encounters.’ At least one Bladen County Board of Education email address has been reported… Some are reporting that suicides are being linked to the release of email addresses.

The Mighty Echoes gospel group of E-town will celebrate their 55th anniversary Sunday, August 30. There line-up of entertainment is impressive. We have the details on our Events section…
