Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Water, water everywhere….and I saw that yesterday.  Visited, well drove down the road to US Lock and Dam #1 near Riegelwood and was surprised at how high the river is.  Water covered the road, maybe a quarter of a mile before arriving at the ferry site.  Needless to say, I stopped short of the water.

Still see cotton and soybean fields that have not, and probably will not be harvested.

Actually, I was headed to and from Burgaw to see my long time walking partner, Janice Johnson.  You likely remember she was seriously injured 9/11/2014 and has been hospitalized since then, most recently in extended care unit at Pender hospital.  Need a lift in your spirits?  Go see Janice.  She is so positive, still slowly improving, still hopeful of returning home someday, and I think she will….No idea when, if attitude and hard work is the measuring stick, she will do it.

Visited or drove through Ivanhoe.  Had relatives living there years ago.  First time in the area in a long time.

Our summer like weather should be coming to a close soon.  High temp today in the mid 70s, lower 70s tomorrow (Thursday), 54 on New Years Day.

Today, my bride and I quietly celebrate 55 years of marriage.  She deserves sympathy.  But, we are still walking the same path, side by side.  It has been a good trip…for me. and hopefully for her as well.
