Another date to remember, Saturday, October 22. That is the date for a fund-raiser for Elizabethtown Middle School. A reverse raffle, a delicious meal and fun with friends and neighbors is planned. More to come.
Supporters of the two presidential candidates are ready to forgive short-comings of their preference, but still pointing to the speck (?) in the eye of the opposition. More than ever, politics makes strange bedfellows.
On the topic of presidents, the tallest president was Lincoln at 6’4″, at 5’4″, Madison was the shortest.
I am told there are inmates that have been in Bladen County jail for several years. The county is having to secure more cell space from other counties at a cost of $50 or more a day. Get the feeling someone is not attentive to their task. Superior court dates cut short because cases not ready, so I have been told. We all know cases that have been moved time after time, and we, the taxpayers continue to feed and house too many, too long. We hear promises at campaign time, but see little action. The issue is not about law enforcement. They have done their job. Arrest has been made, charges have been made, now those arrested need to be placed on the docket and face the judge. Hope someone proves me wrong.
You can check court cases by name. Google NC Court Calendar by county and follow “promps.” Saw one case on the Bladen County calendar for June 3, 2019. 2019???? My guess this is not someone in jail, but 2019??? Hopefully, that is an incorrect date.
