Thoughts While ShavingHappy Thanksgiving Day.

Time to give thanks, enjoy family and friends and a delicious meal, go to sleep watching NFL football, rise early tomorrow and weigh to see how much I have retained.

I think back to my early school days, learning about the Pilgrims and how they prepared a feast and gave thanks for their new country.  Some think we ‘messed-it-up’ since their arrival.  Hopefully our best days are yet to come.

Wikipedia describes ‘The First Thanksgiving” in 1621 as a feast between Pilgrims and the Wampanoag at Plymouth Colony.  It included waterfowl, venison, fish, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin and squash.  Other articles indicate some settlers sharing a potluck dinner that included freshly-hunted fowl, game, and fish, hunted and shared by both French Canadians and local natives.

We have continued the tradition of preparing and sharing a feast.  Then we added football.

Today’s schedule includes Vikings at Lions, Redskins at Dallas and the Steelers play the Colts in Indianapolis.

I received an email from President Trump, at 2:54 this AM, was titled “How to Make Money Online” complete with contact info.  Unfortunately the return address is not Trump Towers, The White House or one of his Florida addresses.  It was a Renton, WA address and the real small print indicated it was an advertisement.  Thought he may have a job for a worn-out senior citizen, maybe ‘The Director of Senior Citizens Programs’ with an unlimited budget and a full-time chauffeur.  Strike Three.

Like many other hopefuls, once it is clear I will not be named to a ‘cushy’ position, I have decided I’m not really interested in any job, just make sure my Social Security continues.

And after about 19 presidential elections in my lifetime, I will not participate in any election discussions, period.  I am not qualified to speak and I have designated ‘O’ time to listen.

At the end of the day, think about one thing you are thankful for.  Mathew Lewis Browne

Count your blessings, one by one!!! Gratitude journaling is one of the best ways to train your mind to look for appreciation in your life and feel joy in those thankful moments.  Sandra Bell
