Thoughts While ShavingHopefully the NC HB2 issue will soon be a memory. Governor and Legislature have hopefully agreed to agree. House and Senate expected to repeal the controversial law today and the Governor has promised to sign immediately.

We are just hours away from the next round of March Madness to determine the best college team of 2016-2017. South Carolina vs Gonzaga at 6:09 PM Saturday, the second game pits Oregon against UNC at 8:49 PM, both games being played in Phoenix, Arizona. The Saturday winners play Monday evening for the championship.

Speaking of sports, musical chairs for football coach at West Bladen continues. Todd Pait is departing the scene after one year at the helm.

Major league baseball kicks off the 2017 season over the next few days.

The Bladenboro Benefit Committee will be back in action Saturday. A benefit for J.T. Higgs will be held from 4 to 7 PM at the Historical Society Building. A bake sale, silent auction, children’s activities, music and more begins at 2 PM. The youngster is being treated for Leukemia.

Bladen County NCDOT employees & contractors continue repairs following Hurricane Mathew.

A couple of final thoughts after most recent trip to DC. Some type of stimulus package appears to be on the minds of many lawmakers….could deal with numerous infrastructure needs, including roadways, upgrade or new facilities and broadband, maybe more.

And finally, never seen such long lines waiting to get inside House Office buildings, maybe Senate buildings as well. I only visited the House side. A couple of hundred folks, maybe more, lined up under threatening skies. Very orderly…..
