Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingFirst a confession, I seldom shave on Saturday.

Planned to attend a high school football game last night, however, it was about 90 degrees shortly before kick-off and I made an executive decision. I spent the evening in the comfort of home, temps in the mid 70s, listened to a Columbus County broadcast team covering the Whiteville-East Bladen game, watched the Panthers on TV with no sound and checked often for ‘tweets’ of the West Bladen score.  I really enjoyed.  Eagles won, Knights won, Panthers lost.

School begins Monday, be aware of energetic youngsters waiting for their bus ride to school and say a prayer for those (educators and helpers) who will be working with them over the next 9 months.  Eager minds and bodies ready for another school year.

All time extremes for August in Bladen County.

Highest Temp 105 degrees on August 11, 2007,

Lowest Temp 50 degrees, August 30, 1965,

Greatest One-Day Precipitation was 4.66 inches on August 28, 2002.

Another bit of info to share. There are 13 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, today in Bladen County.

As I hear presidential candidates “damning” one another, I am reminded of a quote shared with me years ago.  ‘There is no pic like the one the public takes’.  Guess our photo will not be developed until early November, 2016.

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics, is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.  Plato

It is the duty of every citizen according to his capacities to give validity to his convictions in political affairs.  Albert Einstein

The more you observe politics, the more you’ve got to admit that each party is worse than the other.  Will Rogers

I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.   Thomas Jefferson
