Congratulations to the East Bladen Lady Eagles basketball. Another win posted last night, this time a 59-38 win over Reidsville. Coach Patty Evers team was slow out of the gate, but came on strong to improve their record to 30-0 for the year. Seniors Lacey Suggs and Abby Ward had big nights, but the whole team played well at both ends of the court. Next opponent will be Jacksonville Northside (24-3) on Tuesday night. Another huge event last night, ‘A Red Affair Gala’ at Lu Mil sold out and attendees apparently had a good time. Proceeds benefit patients in Bladen County, sponsored by the Bladen County Hospital Foundation. Another successful fund-raiser. If my memory is correct, the organization has sponsored fund-raisers for years, but the event really became successful when Ron Taylor, then Chairman or President of the group, suggested a change and made Lu Mil available. The rest is history.
Bladen County has so many good folks working for the betterment of the area, seems a few ‘thugs’ get most of the press. Bladen is a good place to live, work and play.

Find it interesting both major political parties are “dancing around” the US Supreme Court appointment issue. Some, in both parties, have spoken out of each side of their mouth over the years. So what’s new? The ‘people’, you and me, are not important, the ‘party position’ is all that matters….both parties, at the national and state level, few exceptions it seems. Not sure that was the intention of the founding fathers.
