See a few political signs ‘popping up’ around the county. The primary election is about 7 weeks away.Will be interesting to see if moving the election from the first Tuesday in May to March 15 will have any effect on local activity. The dates were changed to allow North Carolina voters to be involved in the selection of the next president.
Hopefully there will be more interest than in recent elections.
Still have high hopes for 2016. Keep hearing the “R” word….recession. Hope not.
Keep hearing about fraud related to ‘crop insurance.’ A Columbus County resident pled guilty to Mail Fraud and Money Laundering charges and was sentenced to 11 years in prison. He received over $1 million, quoting from the federal court release, “derived from hidden crop production, underreported crop production, and overstated crop averages, all on federal crop insurance documents.” If there are others, hope they are arrested and charged.
Iowa caucus less than a week away. There are 99 counties in Iowa, 1,681 precincts and 99 conventions. And all are held February 1, beginning at 7 p.m. Washington Post has an interesting article…”Iowa caucus: Here’s how the voting works.” If you are interested.
You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to discourage them.
