On Wednesday, March 15th, Troopers from Bladen and Columbus County went beyond routine service by lending a helping hand to someone in need.

Members assigned to the Troop B, District 5 State Highway Patrol office, which encompasses Bladen and Columbus Counties, came together off-duty to assist a fellow member of their community.  With materials provided by the Baptist Men’s Association, the troopers constructed a wheelchair ramp for a member of the Richardson Road Community, located in Bladen County just outside Bladenboro.

Ms. Ward had been unable to leave her house without assistance until this ramp was completed.

“It’s amazing to me how we take day to day activities for granted like just being able to walk outside.  If you can take a few hours out of your day and change someone’s life, why wouldn’t you do it?”
